Contact your local junior high school offices. Most schools have a rotating book adoption schedule and they actually recycle or destroy old books. Our principal keeps a few dozen of the old books around just in case someone needs them. They will either give them to you free of charge or at a very reduced price. Let the school know why you need them and tell them that they don't have to be new books. If you need new books, you can check with the manufacturer. Prentice Hall and HBJ are major producers of text books.
