There are various "causes". In the end, those people are "evil". They are not the noun evil. They are the adjective evil. They blame it on parents or having been molested himself. In some cases it is based upon a culture that is afraid of a low average age of death. If I expected to die at 35, I would seek a mate as soon as I hit puberty. That's not really the same, but it is loosely related.
Such people are predators. They want power over someone else. They prey upon weaker individuals or easy targets. It is similar to rapist of those who are mature. The reasons they want that power vary. They want to get even with someone. They want someone to pay for their hurts. They want....It is that simple and that complicated. Regardless of what the causes are it is wrong.

I believe and research also supports that it is based in a sexual trauma during childhood when our sexualities are developing. This is also the time where we get our adult fetishes such as foot fetishes or even sado-masochistic practices. People who are subject to unhealthy situations as children often develop problems with socialization, personality, and sexuality. If they aren't allowed to develop their sexual identity properly and in a healthy manner, then how they end up as an adult is a direct result. They end up desiring this despicable method of gaining sexual pleasure because that is how they developed sexually.

This is not to say what a pedophile does is not wrong or illegal. I also won't say that I think these people are evil, but they are a product of their environment plus an adult choice to violate a child and commit a crime. Their childhood may make them more predisposed to this behavior, but essentially they still chose to commit a crime and violate someone innocent.

I think that it's very much a control issue where a person wants to feel more powerful over someone else. in the natural world mating is often a sign of dominace. Also i think these people have an obsession with sex as well as power problems

It is partly learned from adult role models and traumas you experienced from them.
