Would you forgive someone who shot your kid?
The Amish say it is because Jesus forgave them, so they will forgive too.

I would eventually forgive. It will take time though. It is still too soon, but this type of forgiving is not for the murderer. It is for the self. When you forgive your enemy you take the power back from him that he stole from you. You take back your peace of mind and you take back your emotions. You become whole again. None of that helps the murderer, but it does help you.

I'd forgive. it would be heartbreaking but I would forgive - like the Amish said - b/c Jesus forgave me, I'll forgive anyone of anything.
You also asked a question on one of my questions about how we know we're hearing from God. Honestly - I'm not sure what religion you are or anything - but the best bet is to pray. He'll give you the right words if you feel you should say something. I use the NIV Bible. There are tons of versions. King James, New King James, NIV, Amplified. All are fine.

I truly admire the Amish people, they are hard workers that bother no one. It is their way of life to forgive anyone that has wronged them. I am sitting here thinking that yes I should forgive someone who has killed my child, but in all reality, no I could not do it at first, maybe as time went by I could, but not like the Amish have. God Bless

I would hope I would be able to, and not becuase I'm a Christian, as I'm not. I just think that forgiveness is a valuble human trait though. Revenge only causes more pain and suffering. I have the utmost respect for the Amish.

Actually you'll find as you get older forgiveness is a gift you give to yourself. Carrying a grudge around for a lifetime can be hard work.

Hey, the Pope (the one that died) went to the prison to forgive the man who shot him. I don't know that I could be that magnanomous, but it is healthier.

We have to forgive so He can forgive us. It is hard for us, but it is divine to forgive as it is divine to give.
