How is the life cycle a moss different from that of a dandelion?

easy one

Like maybe Polytricum or Atricum

Moss has spores that come out of a capsule, the calyptra comes off, then the operculum then the paeristome teeth are exposed. THEN the spores can get out. They float around and land and then a new moss plant grows. No vascular system for moss, no matter how much it wants one.

Dandelion (Taraxicum Officionale L.) Seeds float through the air on a sort of fluffy parachute, blown by wind, then they land eventually, the seed part sprouts and grows. The roots grow down and the plant grows up.

You can eat the young leaves.

Well, it's one heck of a lot more complicated.

Dandelions reproduce asexually; that is, no male flower or pollen is necessary for the flower to produce fertile seeds.

Moss on the other hand, has an sexual mode of reproduction. The mature moss produces spores (rather than seeds) as the result of fertilization. The fertilization is quite complicated; some moss plants produce archegonia (female structures containing eggs) and some produce antheridia (male structures producing sperm) When the sperm (or antherozoids) are mature, they are released and swim to the archegonia, fertilizing the egg cells.

At this point a zygote is released which develops into a sporophyte. The sporophyte eventually produces masses of spores, which are released into the air, and should they chance to fall in a favourable spot, they degerminate into a protenma, which in turn, gives rise to male and female moss plants.

In addition, Moss can also reproduce asexually.

a moss has spores and grows where an area is moist. Whereas a dandilion has seed blown through the air and lands on any surface that is fertilizable, mostly where weeds grow. Plus a dandelion is a flower and not a fungus. Moss is considered to be a fungus that usually grows on a forest floor.
