Bob and Lynne have MBA's. They earn 6 figures annually. They live in a lavish home and would rather pay someone then learn how to do the cooking, cleaning and repairs pertaining to their home and cars.
Mike and Carrie are both average high school grads. Mike is a mechanic who runs an auto repair shop. Carrie owns a small cleaning business with her sisters. The couple recently built a small 3 bedroom rancher with the help of a friend of Mike's. They never needed a contractor. Carrie also grows her own vegetables and is a master cook.
Bob and Lynne look down on Mike and Carrie. They claim they are less than they are just because they drive older cars, live in a modest home and get their hands dirty for a living.
Who is smarter? The college grad or the high school grad?

P.S Mike and Carrie do have retirement accounts with reputable firms, they're putting the money they saved on the house there.

Depend on the topic. If I had car trouble, I'd much rather have Mike look at it than Bob. If I wanted to know how to maximize profits in my new buiness then Bob and Lynn would be the top choices. the fact that Bob and Lynne look down on Mike and Carrie shows that they may at best be educated idiots, since they should now that without Mike and Carrie, they wouldn't be able to keep their house clean, or get to their jobs.

The high school grads are smarter because they not only at least have a diploma, but they know how to cook and garden and build so they would have more knowledge about common life things.
Bob and Lynne need to get a life of their own and stop looking down on people just because they graduated from college and are too lazy to do other work.

Have Bob, Carrie, Mike & Lynne solve some logic problems. Then we'll see about smarter. Otherwise, I think the answer you're looking for is Bob & Lynne are jerks, but not much of your question actually involved intelligence.

This question has a socialist leaning. Bob and Lynne are not adequately explained. They are probably working 12 - 18 hours a day in their upper management or executive positions. With their enormous job commitments they haven't got energy left to take care of the house and cars.
It is a matter of priorities.

Both couples are smart in their own way. Whether it be skilled labor and mechanical, or white color intellectual stuff, neither could do what the other does as well. However, the person who doesn't look down their noes at another person because of material things is the smarter.

they both sound similiar, one couple just seems fortunate enough to have had their parents pay their way through college. having an MBA does require much more knowledge than fixing a car, building a house, cooking, and growing a garden all together.
...they sound pretty much the same. both seem to be living to the highest standard of living that they possibly can its just the first couple had richer parents.

Who is smarter? I believe Bob and Lyn think they are better because they make more money. A common conflation of morality and resources. It is obvious, because Bob and Lyn think they are better by their superficial criteria that they are stupider and morally deficient. But what are you going to do? The world is filled with too many Bob's and Lyn's.
