I have a 1997 Volvo 850GLT, & for some reason my "service" light comes on when I start the car. It only stays on until I hit a bump in the road or it will stay on for no longer then 10 minutes & then goes out by itself.

I was guessing it might be a wire connection thats loose, but all of the lights come on when I start the car.

Thanks for your help

The light means you have a problum. It can be as simple as low window washer low or low wat in the radiator.
What you need to do first is get out of the car, and check all the fliuds in the engine
Trans Fluid
Oil
Radiator
Windshild fluid
Breaks Fluid
If it is low fill it up , then do it again.
Most of the time correcting the fluid levels
This should stop the light from comming on, unless the computer has found something else more serious.

It could be something as simple as low coolant, low washer fluid, or low brake fluid being sensed. It also could be the loose wire your talking of. I would check all fluids and then go for the wiring issues.

It has to be a bad connection to one of the sensors, probably an oxygen sensor. Have the car scanned for history codes, this should speed up the diagnoses.
