i do not reccomend it. nylon is a type of plastic. it turns brown and melts when it comes in contact with a heat source like an iron

You can iron nylon, only on very low heat. The problem is that it may not be enough heat to stick the iron on to the jacket. You could try it and just keep the iron on it for a longer time, while doing that protect the rest of the garment outside the patch with cotton towels.

in case you could iron nylon or the different skinny synthetic that could soften, you could placed it below a towel and then iron the towel, to maintain it from touching the warm iron. and circulate the iron quickly, so the warmth does not get concentrated. you could attempt the soaking in water in case you p.c. to be rather risk-free.

iron on very low heat and place a towel or pillow case between your iron and the jacket. this way the jacket won't melt on your iron

Any iron worth a dime has a heat setting dial, and most if not all of these dials include "synthetics" or "nylon."

Sew them on, I would not take a chance ironing them on....Take it to a cleaners, most of them have a seamstress there to help you.
Nylon is a plastic, and I would not take a chance....It can be steamed but not direct heat....
