I am a local councillor. i was elected the first time I stood. I have been re-elected since with more than double my majority of the previous time. I was a nobody standing against a man that had had his seat for 21yrs. How did i do it?
1. I put a leaflet out every 4 weeks telling people what was going on in the area and my views. (I still do)
2. I went to every event that happened.
3. I get involved with every local project that I can.
4.The day before the election everyone who had voted previously (you can get this info from your council) got a personal letter stating my pledges.
It worked for me I have been a councillor for 3yrs and am now a cabinet member!! (I also have a nice car lol)

If you really are the kind of person who is standing for public office because you'll get a flashy car then I will not be voting for you. And all those local councillors who courted fame soon sold out their supporters. Remember Derek Hatton in Liverpool? And Ken Livingstone is teetering on the brink. Sorry, Dear, can't help you with this one.

Be seen out and about in your local area. Phone up the local paper and get them to run a story on you. Go to the opening of an envelope. Eat in the local establishments. Intermingle with the locals. And go knocking on doors and post flyers through letterboxes. Create an event to bring awareness or community spirit.
Hey, if I can manage to repeatedly get in the local and national press for absolutely no flipping reason whatsoever, then I'm sure you can for doing something positive!

Get together some ideas to help your community and then make up flyers and posters.
Next go door to door and tell people your ideas and ask for their votes.
Once you get into office, then you can do all the things those other people are suggesting. No, I'm kidding. I think we're starving for honest down to earth leaders and if you feel you can do the job, go for it.
I wish you all the best. I don't know what area of the country you're in, but if you're sincere in bettering the community, I'll vote for you.

I don't think being famous is going to get you elected!
Try coming up with a strong maifesto and then go knocking on local resident doors. You could also take out adverts in local papers using a strong tag line that will get you noticed. Tackle a major problem in your locality like crime & public safety.

It is inmature to seek fame without good cause. Seek Heaven!
In the Beginning God created heavens and earth.
God gives you air to breathe and sunshine to enjoy.
God gives you water to drink and food to eat.
God gives you a wonderful body and sound mind, to live.
God loves you, and you are precious to Him.
Son of God died on the Cross to save us from condemnation.
Jesus’ love is boundless and everlasting.
We have the hope of Heaven through Jesus.
Life therefore has fantastic and glorious future!

If your are serious, go out and meet the people, hold an introductory press conference, and have a fund raiser for advertising fees. Good luck!

How about having sex with a local married politician? Then go blabbing it to the local papers. That should certainly make you famous in your area.
Or maybe, you could ask Paris Hilton to come and visit you because she is famous for being famous, and therefore you would become famous too!
