Al Pujols and Ichiro both made their rookie years in the same year, and both won rookie of the year, except ichiro was american and pujols was national. they both had amazing seasons, and were no brainers for rookie of the year award. here's the question: if they had both been in the same league, who would have won? ichiro won mvp as well, so i think i'd say him, but pujols still had an amazing year. thoughts?

Pujols would have won it and I'll tell you why. That year, Pujols was in his early-early twenties. He had never played above AA before, and he played left field, right field, first and third base very professionally. Not to say that Ichiro did not have a great year, but he was already a professional player, if it was in Japan. He had experience with the pressure of playing pro ball.
