Headphones not working...?

I just bought a used Compaq Armada M700 laptop. Everything works
perfectly except for one minor problem that I would like fixed. The
speakers work fine but the headphones are full of constant static and
a faint beeping noise

That model is designed for 32-ohm headphones -- check if your headphones are 17-ohm. If they're 32-ohm, see if you have the same problem with a different set of 32-ohm headphones.

Maybe you should use the speakers or get a new pair!!
