Just remember how fickle ppl can be, by all means enjoy the compliments, but don't be so over confident and think that you can be as you say, blase....you have to be always striving to improve in your profession, to stay on top as ppl get bored very quickly and there is always someone fresh and new AND talented around the corner!

It takes as much to compliment you as it does to not mean the compliment. Praise (and the converse) go with the job. Take it as much as you can without putting too much thought into it. It is nice for someone to recognize you, but at the same time everyone feels that they should compliment you. It is a double edged sword.
Just say, thanks and return a compliment with "your hair is so beautiful tonight" or something of that nature. The thanks are recognition, and the return is to take the focus off of you.
I don't agree that you are "a small person." I would just say that you need to accept praise and move on.

Adulation is one thing that we all enjoy. How ever should ever such compliments become a bit to much. Break the situation by doing some totally out of the unexpected to bring such down to reality. (FART!) stating that someone must be talking behind, ones back!) commenting that it was a whole pile of shyte anyway))).

it what is being said behind your back i would worry about. if that kind of compliments turns your head so easily than you are a small person. it is nice to get compliments and it nice for people to give them. but is this one coming from the heart or just BLOWING smoke up your nose? but you need to know that when someone compliments you it to let you know that you did something. like when i tell my wife she look nice i say it from the heart. or i tell a guy that his work is good they know i said it because it true. i never let compliments go to my head just let them make me feel good and tell my wife about it and we have a laugh.

Attempt to see yourself through the frame of reference of the one giving the compliment. My guess is that they don't see you as perfectly as you think they do. They appreciate you not in spite of your faults but perhaps because of them. It makes you a more interesting person, actor and friend.

This simply is not funny.
Only the feeble-minded are giving you straight answers.
Everything you write is shite.
Unfunny shite at that.
Go away for a very long time.

That's damn funny.
I doubt you shine on stage enough to find your way to the wings in a black out.
