and what do you use it for? I thought you can make cups and plates with it also? I don't know but i'm trying to do some research for my daughter...ty anybody! :)

Clay soil may not be 100% clay... it may just be a description of a soil that has a lot of clay in it and thus very heavy and clay like.
Clay soil typically has very pour drainage and the particles are so fine they cling together and do not let water pass easily.

When you have an out crop of true clay - yes - you make things out of it. Another example is "Blue Clay" which is very popular as a pond liner because it holds water.
