Everyday violence grows and grows in our community's, especially amongst our children. The questions is how safe do you feel you are? Do you wonder what might happen as you walk outside? Or if you have children do you worry about them while there at school? Write your opinion please. -Thanks

Generally I have not felt safe, however I realize over the last year that where I have been living has been very safe.....

In that .. I don't feel I will be mugged, people let their children play in the apt. complex's parking lot, and often they let their children walk to the very near by gradeschool. And I have no locks on my car and almost hoped that someone would steal some computer equipment out of the back seat, but that hasn't happened.

But there are bad parts of town, and so far I have avoided them. Unfortuantly where I live has drastically raised the rent, so I will have to consider more dubious places.

Two years ago I lived in the downtown of a very small town .. and I asked if there were anyone dangerous in the area .. and my boss answered, we are the most dangerous people in the area. This proved true when a co-worker whom I shall call Scary B. almost lost control on his co-worker Pudgy J. for not paying the cable tv bill. It was really something to be awakened at 6am to someone screaming and trying to break the door down.

I also fear it will get worse in our lifetimes.

I don't worry about going outside. I live in a nice neighborhood but, I realize undesirables can drive into it. It's not a gated community. I take common sense measures. I don't go out alone at night and I make myself aware of my surroundings when I go shopping. I look outside the mall doors before I go out to the parking lot. I have my keys ready and a weapon if necessary. I don't worry that much about my kids at school because they attend a private school that has very strict security measures. Also, at my home is a surveilance camera that shows on a TV screen any and every one driving onto my property. It's part of my security system. I have taught my children not to answer the door or phone unless I say it's okay. These are common sense measures. The vast majority of people never have anything happen to them. Remember that.

No, i don't feel safe. There seems to be so much hate in the world today. We're suppose to be evolving to a better place, looks like we've just become more obsess with making more money!! What happened to the days where we cared about each other? About being a good neighbor? How can you live in that big house on the hill and your neighbor is being evicted? Do that make you a better person to see this or a smarter one? If you do nothing to help, it makes you a selfish one.

Learn to defend yourself take a self defence class. Try not to worry about what may happen. Yes the world can be a dangerous place, but for the most part it is not. Even though it seems that it is. Just be aware. As for children I don't have any but if I did I would teach them to be smart, safe and aware. You cannot dwell on what may happen. Just prepare yourself to be ready if something does. Sorry but life doesn't come with a promise that you or you loved ones will always be safe.

im a natural born worrier anyway really but i dont feel atall safe.
i wont leave my house after dusk and make sure constantly all my doors and windows are locked. i never open the door without the chain on. i do worry about my son and hes only 4 but when he gets into junior school/secondary school wanting to walk there and back by himself i think ill worry a heck of alot more.
there have been afew murders in my town recently within the space of a couple of months. one man even got stabbed in middle of the day in our town centre - now that scares me! seems criminals have no fear these days about their actions and if they will get caught!
its a very horrible world we are living in

I do feel safe. My daughter's are married, but, I still worry about them. I always sit in a resturant facing the door, and I'm always aware of my surroundings. My home has been broken into twice, but now, I have a security system, and I have a weapon next to the bed. So I do sleep well, but always listen......~~~

I feel relatively safe. I don't fret about going outdoors to get the mail. I don't worry about going to the store for milk, or to Walmart for groceries. I can't let the actions of others force me to live in hiding. My children are grown. I am concerned about my grandchildren. I pray for them each and every day. I can't let fear and worry take over my life. That's no way to live.

I personally don't think we are really safe anywhere. Even the most crime free areas now are experiencing violent crimes. I am just glad to know that I have Jesus as my savour. That is the only way I can feel comfortable.

Thanks for the hyperbole and lack of fact. In truth we are seeing lower levels of overall violence. I wish all you chicken littles would educate yourselfs before sprouting off.
