Actually both a and c affect resolving power. However, for a given microscope, c is a constant, so for that microscope, as it is currently set up, the wavelength of light would be the limiting factor. However, the resolving power could also be improved by purchasing better quality objective lenses.

Wave length of violet easy. With seen easy you won't be able to get any further acceptable. Max magnification is for that reason 1000X with an oil immersion lens and 400X with out oil. Wave length of violet easy is 4 hundred nm. Max determination of a easy microscope is 2 hundred nm this is a million/2 the wave length of violet easy. That is clever.
