So, Halloween is evil.
Scary movies are evil.
When the hell did this all happen?
I agree with elysialaw.

I think people crave a certain amount of emotional release of all kinds. Since we live in a relatively fear-free society at the moment, I think movies and such are an outlet for emotions we rarely get to express. I bet if suddenly we had our own little Sadaam Hussein sending storm troopers around to our houses, or setting off chemical weapons, etc. like some countries have to deal with, we would probably lose our taste for horror films because we'd have the real thing.
Or I could be overthinking it :)

They're just like watching any other kind of genre films. We love to be scared, just like we love to laugh at comedies and cry at dramas. Horror movies give us a rush of adrenaline and makes our hearts pound with excitement. If you want proof, check out in my opinion the scariest movie ever and that's "The Exorcist" with Linda Blair. That movie will mess you up for MONTHS.

The older you get, the more you realize how idiotic the movies and the points to the movies are. There really isn't a point to the movies or a reason for them. People just watch them to be stupid. I used to watch them too, but like you said, What's the point in watching something that scares you? Exactly, there isn't one, just like there isn't a point to any of the movies and people are getting paid to make these movies??? It doesn't make sense.

becuase I am evil....mwahahaha!
Because it is a controlled fear and human nature loves things that can be controlled, along with the concept of uncontrollable things.
And I don't think either Halloween or Scary Movies are evil. Evil is something terrible that rots your soul, like the devil or Jeffrey Dahmer, not kids dressed as Spiderman getting candy.

in case you're conscious that there are numerous women who are not terrified of watching horror movies, why ask this question? i'm not fairly constructive what reaction you're after if so, because of the fact one would be unable to make the mass generalization that ladies are wussier than adult men, because of the fact there are some distance too many exceptions. the only answer i supplies you to this question could be to echo Taakk's reaction. nonetheless to be trustworthy, i'm for my area lots harder whilst it consists of horror movies than a great style of the adult men i understand. My dad surely walked out in District 9 because of the fact he theory there became into too lots gore. in case you have surely seen the movie, you will understand how ridiculous it is.

It's all about the blood and guts and how many people get killed. All the many ways one can kill someone. The fright, the horror of it all. The adrenaline rush, feeling your body jump at the scary parts of the movie. It's fun.

when people get scared or nervous ur body produces adredaline and when ur body produces adrendaline it makes u feel good so some people get addicted to adrendaline & do or watch scary things so they can get their adrendaline pumping.
Also when girls get scared they hang on 2 guys who are stronger & can protect you.
