what made the "flip" in society?

historians tell us that society began as matriarchal..meaning the women were in power over men, but it was in a different way. women were revered for their fertility, and "fertility" was understood as a concept that had more than one level of meaning to it.

can someone tell me when we switched from being martriarchal societies (women in power) to patriarchal societies (men in power) and the circumstances that caused this big change?
anyone know?
thanks.. :)

The first switch can be attributed to Simon (Later; St. Peter) and Saul of Tarsus (Later; St. Paul) who were both avowed woman-haters (Peter was actually sort of a dim bulb to begin with). They completely obscured the fact that Jesus (Yeshua-Ben Joseph) was married to Mary of Bethany and that their firstborn child was a female named Tamar. They also did their best to convince the world that Yeshua was the product of a virgin birth, an idea they stole from Mithra, to further obscure the role of women in the Hebrew family. The Romans picked up on this because the Pope's didn't want any competition from women. That's why women cannot become priests in the Roman Church. It's been downhill for women ever since.

Not all historians accept the theory of a matriarchal age. In fact, the majority reject it.

Just because an ancient society made lots of goddess figurines, that doesn't mean they were feminist. It's like arguing that the Pope must be female because Catholics have so many images of the Virgin Mary. Some male goddess worshippers are very sexist.

Of course religion helps to undermine the feminine power structure.

I don't think anything else has had a greater influence on our shift of reverence.

Yup...it might seem so. The matriarchy incorporates the midsection, at the same time as the patriarchy incorporates the pinnacle. of direction, the suitable answer is that the two are necessary for stability. yet at an easier point, women human beings shelter the "heart" (fire) from which Love so actual flows. adult men are the builders and protectors. women human beings contain; adult men exclude (as maximum warriors do). women human beings harmonize and synthesize, at the same time as adult men compete for stance and place. women human beings develop all; adult men teach themselves. those, are exaggerations, yet they do touch on the diversities between the genders. in this international of duality, the two genders are necessary for helpful operation of Planet Earth. that's a problematical stability, as we see in society now. we've lost various of the female attributes and characteristic bowed to the masculine attributes, valuing "power" and "power" over "cooperation" and "compassion." i'm Sirius

Women are weak? They like flowers more than guns? They are the receiver in a relationship? They think duckies are cute?
