your first problem is Geo's were designed as a disposable car. putting that aside your belt may squeal the important thing is to look for cracks or threads hanging out of the belt if so replace it immediately

they may be cracked or worn out looking in some sort of way just check them out and see if there looks to be kind of a problem. maybe ur car is stalling that might mean ur belt is. also signs are greasy build up, missing section, glazing...anything like that, hope i helped.

Hard rubber, cracked, and worn looking. They last about 100K and then break. If you think it's a bad belt, have a mechanic you trust look at it and replace it. Not an expensive fix.

well if its a timing belt you cant know from sound but if you take it off you can see the little "teeth" in it worn down

visually check to see if any belts are frayed or cracked. if any of these conditions exist a new belt might be a good idea.

if they have cracks the run the length of the belt, or have chunks missing, if they squeal they need to be tightened
