Just want to find out how accurate umpiring decisions can be in a cricket game where the naked eye is used to judge close run-outs etc. Thanks

This depends on the size, speed and lighting at the time of the event.
It is generally agreed, by Optometrists, that the "Normal" Human eye (6/6 vision OR in USA 20/20 vision) in lighting sufficient to read by, can identify the difference between a match and a piece of wood at no greater than 6 Metres (USA 20 feet)
As for cricket, well the SACRED game was originally based on visual decisions but with the advent of modern electronics I wonder whether they will ever let the game return to its original sporting attitudes
