yeah i had the same problem. but the main thing is just make up your mind - im not gonna be shy anymore. but here some other things anyway.
~talk to everybody, no matter who they are. just be over friendly and say hi to whoever you see.
~be open to new things. if you have the chance to try something, do it.
~dont be afraid to laugh. i cant help but see the funny side of things, and im in tears laughing constantly.
~get involved in stuff you like doing. like i was never really involved in anything, but that was when i was really shy. i always loved band, but i play clarinet, so i was used to being really quiet. but then i joined the marching band and i LOVE it, and im a lot more outgoing now.
but like i said, you're doing good already, you know what you want, so now you just gotta do it!!☺

Hi! I know what you mean, I use to be shy and quiet to, but I came to the realisation that no-one wants to see me shy and quite, I dont want to be shy and quiet, so why dont I just be the person that I want to be? You will find that you make a lot more friends and you can relax and enjoy life more when you come out of shell! Good Luck!

1. Be yourself
2.Be confident
3. Don't care/worry all the time what others think of you [life's too short for that]
4.Be friendly. Go up to people [preferably ones you don't know and who look nice] and introduce yourself. Just be like "Hi, I'm____" Plus you never know, you could even make a new friend that way.
5. And last but not least, have fun. Life is truly too short to be so quiet and just existing in it. You wanna make an impact in people's lives.

Think of someone that you talk to that you are COMPLETELY comfortable with. Family? Best friend? A pet?? Now, when you're talking with someone that you shell up around, imagine you're really talking to that old familiar person, so that you can be yourself.
Practice!!!
Smile at strangers.
Strike up a conversation with someone in a grocery line.
Compliment someone. Or ask a question.....anything to get the ball rolling.
I used to be shy too...but then I got fed up with myself. It's not like *some* people just have a RIGHT to be bold and assertive and confident. We're all just people! You have to make the decision to BE who you want to be.

Practice!
Take a public speech class, they make you talk in front of the class. It takes time and practice to build up your confidence.
