The phrase was made famous by diet and exercies personality Susan Powter in the 1990's. It was in reference to the MIS-information and even DIS-information that food manufacdturers put on their packaging with regards to the nutritional value and fat content in their products.

I believe it was Susan Powter......she used to be really heavy, and then she started dieting and exercising, got a mohawk and started touring and getting people motivated to lose weight.

I remember she can of started the whole " egg white" omelet thing.
