The washer agitates the clothes using a motor, a belt and a cam system of sorts located at the bottom of the machine. When the timed cycle for washing is done the machine spins out the dirty water. The dirty water is drained directly into you home's drainage system. Then the washer refills with water and agitates again to rinse the clothes. That water is drained as well. Then, during the spin cycle, the excess water is centrifugally spun off. That water is drained too. BING...clothes are done.

You shouldn't have to wash again unless your clothes are extremely dirty. The holes are to let the water drain out and for water to escape during the spin cycle.

the washing machine fills with water, clothes and detergent are added, once filled, the agitator starts this along with the detergent
and water helps remove the dirt from the clothes, then the machine will go into a rinse cycle when it does this it will drain the
dirty water out and down the drain it will do this several times and
finally go into a spin cycle to remove as much water as possible.
it is possible that dirt can be left behind when the machine is overloaded, not enough detergent, incorrect water temperature or
excessively dirty clothes. correct any of these issues before
rewashing the clothes and expect to wash the super dirty ones separately. the holes on the inside of the tub facilitates the flow of water through the machine.

The dirt is filtered thru. I don't think that dirt can be left behind. The holes in the sides are for the water to drain out of the washer. As long as the hoses are working properly u wont see any water coming out from the hoses.
