Ok well I am in 7th grade. I got my period last year. Sometimes I feel stupid because none of my friends even have it yet. And when there are like pad commericals they always make some type of joke and I feel really stupid. How should I deal with that?? Also I get killer cramps any suggestions?! Are they any really good pads to stop leaks?? I really need help with these answers thanks a bunch!

To me, pads always seemed kind of messy. I don't know if you're ready, or if your mom would be willing to let you, try tampons or a menstrual cup any time soon. (On a personal note: My period started in 6th grade and I pads until 8th grade, when I first started using tampons. At the age of 20, sophomore in college, I switched to the keeper {http://www.keeper.com/}, which is a menstrual cup.)

Your friends will be getting theirs soon enough. They may just be a jealous that you're a "woman" and they're not.

As for the cramps, midol has always worked for me, but I've never had bad cramps.

I think you should just ignore your friends, or joke back. They'll be getting theirs soon enough, and it's not like it's something you control. You really shouldn't feel stupid.

For cramps- oh, man, I hear you. Advil always helps me, as does exercise (I know you don't want to when you're hurting, but it does help) and heating pads. Also, while you're waiting for the advil to kick in or the heating pad to warm up, try to get your mind off of them. Talk to someone about anything else, watch tv, read, anything. Hormonal birth control helps a lot, but you may be too young for that. I don't know. You can ask a doctor, though. If you can't yet, keep it in mind for when you're older. The Pill did wonders for me, and not just for cramps.

For stopping leaks, I really suggest the pads with wings. I like Always pads, too. Some of it is just practise, though. Sounds weird, but as you rack up the number of periods you've gone through, you'll get a better idea of your heavy days and where exactly you should put the pad. An option, though, is to double up- wear both a pad and a tampon. Just don't forget to change the tampon regularly.

1) your friends are just jealous, believe it or not. You have become a woman before they have. Also, dont let their comments bother you, they will get theirs - trust me.

2) As far as the cramps, ask your mom to get you some midol and take you to a gyn to have a pap smear if you havent already

3) a really good pad is kotex maxi super long - I wear them when I sleep and I have never had any leaks

i got my period in 5Th grade beat that! no, what you should do about the jokes is remember, they don't understand. they have not had the wonder-full (not!) pleasure of becoming a woman. look at them, say, yeah you think that's funny, wait till you need them, then its not so funny anymore! remember the ones that make fun are the uneducated ones! being a girl sucks sometimes!
The cramp thing, well they make stuff like pamperin for that. talk to your parents about getting that for you. Like at walmart. Cramps are normal. trust me. but its all about growing up. just make sure you keep track of when you get it, so you don't have any embarrassing moments in the middle of math class! been there done that!

Don't listen to your friends. They will be in the same boat soon enough. Try Midol for cramps and a hot heating pad. Buy a brand name pad to use.

when your friends make fun of the commercials, just ignore them. when i would get cramps i would take midol and use a heating pad on my stomach. i dont know if it will help you but it always worked for me. as far as pads go, im not sure because i use tampons. hope this answers a couple of questions.

Hey there.I always buy always with wings. The cramps...a doc showed me one time an exercise you can do to help that Ive shown my daughters and nieces. You lay on the floor..or bed..pull your knee up to your chest kick out your leg....lay on your side and do side kicks. It really does help for a little while.Heating pads..warm baths..also good. Those commericals..well..not sure what to tell ya there. Those friends will have "aunt flow"visiting them soon...then you ll see how funny they think it is.Hang in there sweetheart.

Don't feel stupid! if anyone feels stupid, it might be your friends. they might feel immature
i only started when i was halfway through 8th grade. I felt stupid becuase i was so late compared to everyone, i still know some people who haven't started it yet though. besides, your period is your business. if you want to talk to them about it thats ok but you don't have to share EVERYTHING with friends =)
good luck!
