Red red wine, you make me feel so fine,
You keep me rockin' all of the time
Red red wine, you make me feel so grand,
I feel a million dollar when you're just in my hand
Red red wine, you make me feel so sad,
Any time I see you go, it make me feel bad
Red red wine, you make me feel so fine,
Monkey back and ease up on the sweet deadline

Love them!

30 mins, 40 odd answers, Somekind of record. Yep, funny you should ask. I've been playing their labour of love albums at work. It's not Just Red Red Wine which scored big, (a chart topper on both sides of the atlantic in 1983!!), Rat in Mi Kitchen, and there was Breakfast in Bed, Homely Girl and also I'll be your baby tonight. According to the Guiness Book of Records (19th Ed), only 3 other groups had more chart hits. Only 3 artists have made the UK charts with red red wine, the others being - Jimmy James and the Vagabonds('68) and Tony Tribe('69).

Yeah!, they had a top hit in the 80'-90s called "Red, Red Wine"
The band is one of the world's most culturally diverse dub reggae bands with musicians of English, Scottish, Irish, Yemeni and Jamaican parentage. The band is named from the paper form issued by the UK government's Department of Health and Social Security at the time of the band's formation for claiming unemployment benefit (UB40 = Unemployment Benefit, Form 40).

Yep - they did a remake of Neil Diamond's "Red Red Wine." Seems like they mostly had hits with cover songs. UB40 is the number of a form associated with filing for unemplyment benefits in the UK.

UB40 is a form which was used by the unemployed in Britain. The band members were unemployed when they formed the group, which is where they got the name from.

Loved them!! They were one of the biggest British dub/reggae bands of the late 70s/early 80s.

Named after the DHSS unemployment claim form.

Biggest hits - Red Red Wine, Food For Thought, One In Ten, Earth Dies Screaming

Thought provoking lyrics, catchy melodies, culturally diverse.

Fantastic band! Thanks for reminding me about them!

They were born when unemployment was high...hence the name UB40.

Yes..."Red Red Wine"...that song was actually on an album before it became famous and the song was orginally written and done by Neil Diamond.Another one of his (Neil's) songs that became famous when another group covered it was "I'm A Believer" by the Monkees
