Probably the "3 kings" as some call them - Freddie , BB , and Albert. Um.....and NO Stevie Ray didn't influence Clapton, LOL!

I'm just here to tell you that sixstring is right. He beat me to it.SRV was after Clapton. He also died in Claptons helicopter.
Edit:buddy has pretty much hit the nail on the head. The king brothers influenced Clapton but he stole a great deal of his material from Robert Johson.

stevie ray didn't record his first solo album until 1980. clapton recorded with bluesbreakers in 65. how did srv influence him? EC's biggest influence and hero is robert johnson. over the past 40 years he's recorded dozens of his songs. his most famous was cream's version of crossroads, one the first songs eric sang lead on. there was a time in eric's life that if you didn't know who robert johnson was or were into his music, he wouldn't talk to you. the king that eric was really into was albert king, not b.b. check out cream's born under a bad sign for that.
