I get a sharp hot rip feel on my knee cap after I stand back up from bending down at the knee. Some days it just aches and is real tight feeling when I bend it. If you have had knee issues and seen the doc... just trying to see what it is before I go. Did you have to have any fluid removal by needle?

Joint pain or stiffness of the joint may be caused by overexertion, injuries, arthritis, muscle pain, bursitis and other diseases. Depending on the cause of the joint pain, joints on both sides of the body and small or large joints may be affected. Some types of joint pains can be completely cured but for other types of joint pain (like pain caused by osteoarthritis), treatment will only reduce the pain. I didn't have to have any fluid removed when I went to the dr. He took xrays first, then had me move my knee as much as I could before it caused pain. Turns out I have severe osteoarthritis in my knee. It hurts really bad some days, sharp stabbing ripping tearing pain to the point where i have to sit down. And other days it just feels achy or tight. It often clicks when i'm walking too. I would follow up with ur dr.
I'm only 24, but I had avascular necrosis in that knee when I was a teen from a basketball injury.

Well although i do not want to diagnose I can share with you my knee problems, I have had severe problems with sharp pain in my knee for a couple years now. I mind you I am an avid runner for 10+ years and run marathons so it could be a different situation with you. My problem also happens at the knee cap but underneath and mine is due to no cartilage left in between my bones so they just grind. I suggest you go see an orthopedic and if you run an orthopedic who deals with runners and they will do an evaluation. good luck

I had the same pain for about 10 years before my doctors finally quit telling me it was growing pains. It turned out being patellar tendonitis. I had a strained tendon on my knee cap that wouldnt heal because noone had noticed it before. Hope this helps

you need a consult with an orthopedic surgeon who will do an MRI. this happened to me. the family doc and an x ray showed no damage when i had knee pain. i was referred to an ortho doc; who diagnosed a torn meniscus and verifiered that with an MRI. i required surgery to remove damaged tissue. it worked, and well. i was able to return to the gym. get a consult, and some real answers. you,re young. this is only to your benefit. why suffer, and risk further damage? i waited too long, and was on crutches for two months before surgery. i,m retired, so it was only a nuisance.avoid this scenario. get a consult.

Yeah, I had to have my knee scoped. Turned out I had torn my Anterior Cruciate ligament. It's pretty common among athletes. No problem with fluid buildup, but the surgery sucked.

Most likely, you're fine. But by all means, if you're concerned then get it checked out. Just keep your immune system up and running smoothly, and it will probably go away. Maybe you just hurt yourself somehow, and it could be a possible spasm. I say: Drink some herbal tea, and take it easy for a few days. See a doctor if it gets worse within maybe a week.
