The best place for ME to find an accurate puls is right along the jawline-- just along the "inside" edge of the jawbone.

Firm, consistent pressure is needed (but not too much, or you'll feel your own pulse!!). Take a watch with a second hand (or stopwatch), and count how many beats you feel within 6 seconds. Multiply that 10x (or count thru 10 sec and multiply 6x), to get the beats per minute

(Same counts for breaths per minute-- just count for 10 seconds!)

Stand under the horse and face the rear. Lift up both rear legs simultaneously. You will get and feel a pulse.

Squat down on the side of your horse's left front leg, and place your index finger around the left side of the fetlock joint at its lower edge.

Under the Dock of the tail, and under the ear along the jawline is the strongest places.
