Some get replaced faster than others depending on the job they do. Liver cells for example are renewed relatively quickly as they wear out quite fast because they spend their time purifying and detoxing. Cells that do these kinds of jobs have the potential to become damaged and so the body must renew them to ensure they are always at their optimum efficiency. Your skin cells are another quickly renewed cell because they undergo lots of damage whether it be from weather, uv rays or just wear and tear in general.

Cancer can affect other animals and plants. Cancer is basically a mix up of cell signals e.g. the cell doesn't stop reproducing when it should and continues to grow into a tumour or it does not die off when a signal is sent to it to do so. Thus, any cell has the potential to become cancerous (though the body does have ways to seek out cancerous cells and try to destroy them).

hope this helps :)

1. cells go through mitosis to divide but in between cycles they can rest. some cells have longer rest phases (eg. neurons) and some spend almost no time at rest (epithelial cells).

2. cancer occurs when a cell develops a mutation that causes uninhibited division. any cell that divides can therefore develop this mutation and therefore other species can be affected. cancer experimentation is done on lab rat and mice all the time.
