i would like to be more energized during my soccer games... i thought of drinking something like red bull. i asked a few people about it and they said that it would make my heart beat to fast and that could cause serious injury. could that really happen?

Absolutely not. I was an athletic trainer for 3 years and actually had a person die on the football feild because of dehydration and cafffine which is in red bull can cause that. Very bad side effects. Use some natural energizers like protein and fruit. They can hydrate you which helps you perform better and longer.

I'm not sure about the fast heart beat and getting a serious injury but drinking an energy drink before a game can leave you dehydrated. the best thing to drink would be a sports drink like gatorade

I played soccer/basketball/softball all through high school and I found that eating pasta, bread, or some other type of carbohydrate gave me a quick energy boost if I ate a little bit about an hour before game time.

I know my brother swears by Red Bull, but have you ever seen it out of its can? It looks like pee. Devil pee. Be careful of that stuff. I like Jolt Cola, especially the blue kind. It's cheaper than Red Bull and has caffeine, and you get more in a can.

It is all in the mind, you read the company's`advertisements for the product, and think it will make you a better athlete. It will not, it will mess up your body and could ruin your reputation.( You know how word gets around and how people can exaggerate.) If you need to ensure your energy level stays throughout the game, then have a glucose drink. Glucose is sugar, it is good for children old people and athletes,to name but a few.
I am sure that you do not need any extra stimulation,( thinking that you do is `pre-game` nerves.) You will be fine just being you!

yes it can.

i suggest you drink some iced tea before your game. it has some caffeine to energize you but you won't get too much to make your heart over-palpitate.
