You did not say how old they were. If there the older silver type yes they are worth something. If made after 1947 no they are not worth much. I do wish the purse could talk though, for it may have an interesting story to tell. You see in England, I guess from before the Victorian age but done a lot then, upward to at least WW II, and maybe even today, for I am not British, the silver sixpence was worn in a shoe of the bride to bring good luck to the marriage.I know this was done in colonial times here is the U.S. so that dates it to the 1700's. So a purse full may have a story to tell. Never take coins to an antique dealer for they don't know what you have and will try to get them for next to nothing. You need a British coin dealer.

Either check with a coin dealer or an antique shop. One if not both should be able to give you a guideline if nothing else.
