"Researchers showed that 2% of women started their fertile window by day four of their menstrual cycle, and 17% by day seven. Day one of the menstrual cycle is the day that menstruation begins. More than 70% of women were in their fertile window before day 10 or after day 17. Women who regarded their menstrual cycles as "regular" had a 1 to 6 percent probability of being fertile even on the day that their next period was expected to begin. This leaves few "safe" days for natural birth control methods such as the "rhythm method." Women who participated in the study were required to provide daily urine samples that were tested for estrogen and progesterone. A sudden change in these hormones marks the occurrence of ovulation. This test was used to identify ovulation days during 696 menstrual cycles."

"Having sexual intercourse on your fertile day does not guarantee you will become pregnant. Other factors including the viability of the sperm and egg, and the receptivity of the uterus, as well as other individual factors among couples also influence whether pregnancy will result."

No, During the first half of your menstraul cycle 2 hormones are released, 1 hormone stimulates the process that produces an ovum, or ripe egg. the other hormone stimulates the lining of your uterus(womb), to thicken in readiness to receive a fertilized egg. About 2 weeks from the end of your menstraul cycle the work of the first hormone is completed and you ovulate. Conception occurs if your partners sperm fertilizes your egg. this takes place in the fallopian tube that connects the ovary to the uterus. the egg makes it's way to the uterus and implants itself into thethickened uterine lining. Once this process happensthe cervix increases slightly in width and becomes softer and a thick mucous plug seals off the uterus to protect it from infection. After two weeks if no conception has occured the thickened uterine lining is shed and menstraution takes place.

Short answer: Yes, it's possible.

For a thorough understanding of your cycles and your fertility, I highly recommend "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. She teaches the Fertility Awareness Method, which can be used both as a fertility tool and as a birth control method. Or you can just benefit from a solid understanding of how your body works.

No, i don't think so. i think it is only a few days out of the month that you can conceive. (14 days from the day you start your period. i think you can conceive a few days before then and a few days after then...not just on that 1 day).
