The only think I was ever told to watch out for was tuna and other fish that contain high levels of mercury. But that is even okay in moderation. Do a quick web search on it to ease your mind. If it was my babys health I wouldnt trust us guys for the answer. Things may have changed since my last pregnancy!

Shrimp & scallops are fine in pregnancy, just eat them in moderation because they have alot of mercury in them . Also, make sure they are fully cooked.

I wouldn't, i made the mistake of eating prawns in my first pregnancy and ended up in the bathroom the rest of the night and the next day feeling very unwell, throwing up and diarrhoea. My partner found out the prawns were not as fresh as they were made out to be. I was advised shellfish oysters etc and deep sea fish with high levels of mercury are best avoided. Can you contact your local fisheries department and ask them, I did and was told the above.
We live on the east coast of Australia and I only ate prawns in my 2nd pregnancy one because my partner had caught them himself and two I peeled and deveined them myself so I knew how they were prepared and how clean the preparation area was.
I would only eat fresh fish, prawns caught by family or friends and have eaten it not later than the following day.

yes you can eat shrimp and scallops. They don't have the higher levels of mercury, plus you would have to eat an enormous amt to reach harmful levels of mercury. Go, eat up, and have fun!

You should be fine. I know they say not to eat a lot of shrimp or shellfish because of the mercury content, but once in a while should be fine.

my doctor said it was fine to eat shellfish and seafood as long as they are cooked but to be very cautious. shellfish and seafood are high in mercury - the known cause of autism(i think i spelled that right) i stayed away from it because that is not something you want your little one to have.
