They are essentially the same drink (though Mello Yello has been replaced by 'Surge' in most markets).
I would have to do with 'Mt. Dew' because this is actually hillbilly slang for moonshine. A hillbilly who has imbibed too much moonshine is likely to get funny with just about anything this side of Rosie O'Donnel.
