There are three possible reasons, and it doesn't matter how tall you are:
1. You are gaining weight. This could be extra fat and/or extra water, and the reason for this weight gain could be a change in hormones because of the pregnancy or you're eating more than usual, are less active than usual, or a combination of all of these. If weight gain is causing you to wear maternity clothes already, then this is not normal and you need to consult a dietician and adjust your diet and activity level to maintain your health better.
2. You are carrying more than one baby. If you haven't been to the doctor yet, you need to call and make an appointment, tell the receptionist that you need to be seen as soon as possible and make them schedule you in the next week or two.
3. You are wrong about being six weeks pregnant; you are actually much furthur along than you thought. Again, you need to see a doctor as soon as possible so that they can figure out as closely as possible when your due date is. The longer it takes for them to check your baby, the harder it will be to tell which week to expect the baby's birth. And with a first baby, that can become very important for the health of your baby, and for your health, too.
So, contact a health care provider and find out what the reason is. Don't delay, don't wait around and be indecisive: the sooner you act, the healthier you'll be and the safer your baby will be.

I was like that too I'm small though, sometimes when u get pregnant your uterus tilts upward, and therefore u will show quicker than most people would every-ones body is different, I wouldn't worry(maybe you are eating more) its normal to gain 35 pounds or more when u are pregnant. By the time I had my daughter I was 192 pounds (im small again I lost the weight right away ) and it was opposite with my son u could tell almost immediately that I was pregnant but I never gained weight, Just baby weight.....

Every person is different. With my 1st I didn't show until I was 3 or 4 months & then I got huge FAST. With my 2nd I had to pull out my maternity clothes at 10 weeks.
Like one of the people b4 said, it may be because you are petite so there's not a ton of room in your body to grow b4 showing. Another thing could be that it is multiple babies (twins or something).
Congratulations & good luck!

There can be many reasons as to why you are already showing at 6 weeks!! like the first girl said it could be you are really petite, could be a large baby, could be twins, could be many reasons... however i would check up with that with your gyno or family doctor, just to be on the safe side, having said that i'm sure everything is just fine with you and your baby!! Congratulations!!

I always look like I'm "showing" right away too, but it's actually just bloating. Sometimes when it's a 2nd or 3rd pregnancy, they say you can shower sooner, but most of the time it is just bloating. Once you start getting morning sickness (if you do) that will go away and you could actually lose some weight! I'm 7 weeks pregnant and sick as hell!

It may be because you are a petite person. My friend weighed 115 when she got pregnant with my godson and she started showing within a few weeks.

Maybe you are pregnant with more than one baby??? Or, you're further along than you thought. Or you just might be having yourself a really big baby.

Some women carry the baby in the front like you and someone carry the baby in their hips. If you carry the baby in your hips, you tend not to show until later on in the pregnancy.
