They are totally different species. It's like what's the diff between lions and tigers? Yeah, yeah, to the untrainded eye, they have similar markings but if you saw them next to each other you wouldn't think so. Jaguars are typically found in south and central america (used to be in the lower United States but not seen for 30 yrs or more). Leopards are found in africa. Leopards are smaller bodied and have different types of spots while Jaguars are much stockier, ie. bigger, stronger legs, necks, heads and overall body size. Also, Jaguars sometimes come in all black but still have faded markings on them (these are often referred to as "panthers"). I believe it's poss for leopards to come like this but very, very rare. Basically, just 2 diff animals that look a little similar.

They have different spot patterns, The jaguars spots, called rosettes are larger then the leopards and have little spots inside, and of course the leopard doesn't. Then the spots on a leopard are all about the same size all over it's body, where as a Jaguars spots might be large on it's legs, and small on its back or so on. Also an adult jaguar can weigh up to 300 pounds while the leopard only 120. The jaguar has a stokier shape then the leopard and jaguars live in the Americas while leopards live in Asia. Leopards climb into trees often to get away from danger and jaguars are more likley to stand and fight. Anyway, I hope that covered most of it, sorry if it doesn't.

For one they live in totally different locations. The jaguar lives in south america in the jungles and rainforests. The leopard lives in africa with all the elephants and stuff. Also the spot pattern is different. Jaguars have a spot similar to a leopard but with a single spot in the center of the ring. That is the easiest way to tell them apart. Jaguars also come in black with would be the panther. Hope that helps.
