I am going to be writing a research paper for my english class and it has to be on a debatable issue that we pick a side to. Any ideas would be very greatly appriciated. Also she has already said no to the topics of abortion and capital punishment! Thanks!

When I was in college, it did one on whether Marilyn Monroe was murdered or committed suicide - there's a lot of material out there on this subject.

The reason she says no to those topics is because you will generally not be able to convince anyone to change their minds. Pick a topic that has more than one side but also has people on the fence in the middle.

Stem cell research. It's rarely discussed but a topic that has moral and political consequences both obvious and obscure.
