Very nnormal, and its difficult to avoid putting on weight.

Its not just the nicotine. Its also the other 50+ chemicals they out in cigarettes. Also the main problem is habit.
We have been used to having body sensations which we translate as 'my body needs something, which we have attempted to satisfy by having a cigarette.
When we try to stop smoking, we still get these 'my body needs something' sensations, and we still feel that we want a cigarette. We have to train our body to be more selective. When we feel we need something, we have to work out what it is that we actually need.
A glass of water is an excellent substitute if nothing else comes to mind, as it helps with the clearance of the toxic substances in our body. Another good substitute is a bag of salted peanuts, used in combination with the water.
Another thing to do is to find an activity which occupies the mind or body. Go swimming - nobody wants to smoke while they are swimming. Slowly, as our body adjusts and translates the 'want something' feelings into something other than cigarettes, then the feelings begin to go away. We know its not a cigarette that the body really needs, because as soon as we've had one we still have the feeling, and want another!

Yes very. Many things will improve over time. Your breathing will improve, your sleeping will improve and your whole body will feel rejuvenated. Be careful though with overeating, it's easy to do now that you have quit smoking. Many people, not all, gain weight after quiting smoking. Learn to have healthy eating habits and find some kind of a craft or hobby to replace your smoking habit. These are tips that are useful for now and down the road. The psychological addiction to cigarrette smoking can last longer than the physical addiction. But if you are serious about not smoking again, you'll do just fine.

Congratulations! Keep up the good work!

Natural Quit Smoking Magic

Totally. For two reasons. First, the stimulant/appetite suppressant chemicals that you are addicted to are starting to leave your body. Nicoteine is like a mild form of speed. It triggers release of adrenaline. In fact, the cell recptors that respond to adrenaline are called nicotinic receptors.

Also, the psychological impact of having something in your mouth can be very soothing. Without a cigarette to put in it, the next logical choice is food.

If you want to avoid the weghit gain, drink tons of water, eat tons of green leafy vegetables, and stay away from fast food.

it is said that when u smoke your hand is always making the motion from ur hand going to ur mouth.......so.....just like when u snack on like chips for example ur hand keeps making that same motion........ur increase in appetite is probably more of just that habit b/c ur hands r used to making that constant motion of ur hand going up to ur mouth.
