I often ask why the people of Germany were so willing to follow Hitler, I now know it was fear. It was fear of an unknown enemy. We demoralized Germany during World War I. It was our own brutality that gave rise to the Nazi Era. It was the humanity of the Marshall plan that created a lasting ally in the German people.
I fear the current foreign policies are creating a more lethal situation. How can we proclaim democracy, and morality, when we deny it to others? These are the times that test the ideals of the American people. We must keep our focus clear, and our ideals high. Becoming what we fear will never defeat our enemy. It will only lend validity to their cause. If we follow blindly down this path, we will soon see the enemy in the eyes of our neighbors. Who among us will be safe?

I know! I feel the same. We see bad things going on all around us but no one has the courage to stand up and say something. We are like little ignorant sheep and perhaps, don't want to accept that OUR beloved Government is capable of such things that they claim to be so against.
Also, The American Government doesn't seem to listen to or care about people unless they do something drastic to catch their attention. By then, it's usually an even bigger problem and things only get worse from there.

This answer is for all those that answered that torture is okay. Yea some of your facts are not straight but, torture is not okay, period. Denying people basic rights because they have been determined to be dangerous is also not okay. And to those who support the U.S. breaking with the Geneva convention I say Live by the Sword Die by the Sword.

Just wait till they take away our freedom to speak against the torture, which is where they're headed. Hopefully, I'll won't be around to see that. So what's next?????

If you think torture is ineffective then you're a moron, name one war in the history of the world that didn't use torture. That's just the nature of war. Stop being a little girl about it.
