The star is for the All-Star members of yahoo. People pay for this. You can get more information about Yahoo All-Stars at http://leagues.games.yahoo.com/central. The site will let you browse the All-Star leagues and tournament calendar, as well as a free two week trial.

The star indicates whether or not the player has downloading the game program to your computer. If you have a star you can not play at real money tables.

The "star" means they are a member of the all stars league.you pay to play in special members rooms.
