Nothing before the invention of penicillin, flush toilets, deodorants or convenience foods! And particularly nothing involving wars - trust me on this, however much you might think you want to, you really don't want to go back to World War 2, the American Civil War or anything like that. History is great for studying - my obsession since I was about 5, for example - but we should recognise that interesting ain't the same as safe, comfortable, pleasant or tolerable. Basically, most historical eras prior to the one we're living in would appear intolerable to us. Trenches on the Somme? The firing-line at Gettysburg? Medieval London, with its plagues, rats and enormous piles of human waste in the streets? No way!
At best, I'd go back to the 1950's, but no farther!!!!! I have researched enough history to know it's all horrible!

I love the ancient Greeks. I love to read Herodotos and Plato. Such great ideas, developments and people.
I am also very interested in British history before the Norman Conquest. I love the different kindgoms like Mercia and Northumberland and the different cultures like the Picts and the Manx. And of course the Northmen themselves like Svein Forkbeard and Ivar the Boneless.

That is a very difficult question to answer..
in everything there is a positive and a negative.... I don't think I have a favorite part.. somehow history is flanked by death.. even the creation of earth was violent.. so I would have to say that my favorite part is the children born throughout time with pure and untouchable innocents.. no worries.. no worries..

the most significant moment ( part ) of history i suggest is the disobedience of adam in eating from the forbidden 'tree of the knowledge of good and bad'. the resultant decline of the first humans into old age and death was not god's intended plan for our original parents. eve being deceived but 'adam was not deceived'.true the devil lied to eve . he stirred her thinking and she began to desire the fruit. The couple were then physically prevented from entering into Eden to partake of the 'tree of life' and continue to live forever. This all took place before they had yet produced any children. And the ignorance in the world today of these elementary truths makes it my favourite placeto begin my history of mankind
