Never heard of a white cell count being 2 or 4.

A low white blood cell count can mean many things. HIV infection is usually not one of them as informed by the previous writer. It can be from a viral infection, medication, or simply a variant which is temporary. You should ask your physician and he may refer you to a hematologist to decipher your blood count to decide what is wrong. You may be monitored and have a re draw in a week, or the hematologist may want to do further testing to decide where the problem lies. Are any of your other counts low? How about your platelets and neutrophils? Keep us informed we are interested. Are you on any medications regularly such as seizure drugs like depakote or dilantin? Sometimes medications can cause a drop in a white cell count.
