There's a few people on earth who are afraid of nothing. It's called "hypophobia". they often die young because they put themselves in physical danger often. I believe it is an issue with their brains not performing correctly. However I think everyone has natural fears, such as fear of injury or death of themselves or loved ones. Anyone that doesnt fit under the previous exception mentioned has some of these natural fears.

They may not consider themselves to be afraid of anything but that is likely just a coping mechanism. It is likely that that people who claim this are actually the ones with great fears about something, and this is just a way to cope with negative feelings about those fears. Not having fear is not a good thing by any means. Our species would never have evolved without fear, for it is often what keeps us alive.

Not possible in a normal human, “Fight or Flight” is built in as a basic response to danger. Very old comment heard on the battlefield “ if you claim you not afraid you are either lying or crazy.” Was most likely first uttered long before English became a language.

One site I visited (see below) distinguishes between anxiety (a more heightened form of worry, and fear, which results from a variety of sources, ranging from physical threats, PERCEPTION of threats (whether real or not) and various biochemical responses that are not working correctly. This is why there are so many ways of treating anxiety in the psychological community, as well as so many drugs for it.
However, if someone reached a cognitive state in which they KNEW they were out of danger AND were able to quell anxiety (which is often confused with fear or leads to it), via drugs and/or cognitive-behavioral techniques...THEN, yes, it would be possible to eliminate fear, at least temporarily.
There are many people who have had near-death experiences or survived events in which they were CERTAIN they would die, who claim to be free of fear...of death an illness anyway. I assume that their natural biological response (fight of flight) WOULD kick in if a grizzly bear attacked them, however!
Re: your mom's claim of having no fear! Sounds like MY mom's claim that she NEVER feels anger! Big self-delusion! Fear of bridges is a phobia, but it most definitely qualifies as a fear response. It is QUITE real, though there may be no actual danger. "Phobia" comes from the Greek word for fear: "phobos".
Tell your mom, also, that there IS effective therapeutic treatment for this condition.

Fear is different than panic. Most folks get them confused. A that is 'unafraid' would find themselves maimed or killed pretty quickly. Because they wouldn't be afraid to do things dangerous to themselve. In the case of your mom is she truely was unafraid, then that means she has nothing to lose, including her relationship with you. Personally my greatest fears are not for me, but for my kids.

Ahhh... they just haven't encountered what they are afraid of yet! I am sure they will come across some person, thing, animal, situation that will scare them to death. I used to not be afraid of anything... until I and my daughter almost drowned. Ahem. I found fear!!!

Anyone who says they aren't afraid of anything are most likely liars.
If you were to hide in their closet with a chain saw at night while they're sleeping and suddenly wake them up by starting up the chainsaw and popping out of the closet, they would probably piss themselves.
