I was just curious why the fruit was dried out like this? It was so dry it was hard on the outside, hollow inside and full of seeds. At first I thought it was fake fruit until I opened it up to the seeds. We just moved in , it was an odd find. I don't know much about gardening but thought this might be some strange way to harvest seeds? There was a pear and what looked like a persimmon (spell check on that one..lol). Any help would be appreciated, if it was for seeds I think I might plant them.

P.S. I just thought there might be some sort of history as to why it was done this way. The fruit was high up on a shelf and well preserved so I doubt animals put it there.

I say use them to plant. As to spelling, you are correct in your spelling of persimmon.

It apparently was regular fruit that sat around too long and became dried out. You now can make a dried fruit salad.
