We have an informal office and we drink an hour before quitting time, but my boss starts like 2 1/2 to 3 hours before....I don't think he's allowed to do that and I know I wouldn't. I make the drinks for him too. I love drinking, don't get me wrong and I really think it's cool that I can drink an hour before I get off work, but should I tell his boss that I'm uncomfortable with this and didn't want to get in trouble?????

No! Do not go over your bosses head. Just dont get involved with the drinking before work is over. Continue doing what you are being paid to do. If he questions you about you not joining in, tell him that you really need the job and you would rather not take any chances.

First off...if you drink at work as well...you have no room to talk, even if the boss starts before you.

Now, if the drinking is affecting your bosses performance, then yes, I would say something.

Just be careful and make sure your objection is justified, because a complaint could seriously back fire on you and the rest of your crew.

Also, the only job I know of where it's socially acceptable to drink at work is a bartender...which I happen to be. But even then, I will have 1 or 2 drinks in a long shift, then walk or take a taxi home.

well I think its all wrong. When u all drink do u eack drive home? what happens when 1 or more of u get in an accident and hurt someone? About ur boss maybe he needs some help w/drinking. He might have a bad problem w/it, and allowing everyone else to do it so nobody gets suspicious bout him. Try talking to his boss about a "what if someome" kinda question. So u can here the answer w/out telling on them first.

Hello. Wait a second you drink for your last hour of work and then what get in your car and drive home. That is called DUI. If your boss owns the company whatever its his choice to do what he wants. But if your boss is just a manager in a long list of bosses, you better make sure what he is letting you do isn't against company policy.

Take a cab or walk home please.

You are being part of the drinking too... wether your boss starts ealier than you still makes no difference since you are part of the team.... Drinking is not allowed during working hrs period. And if I were the boss of your boss, I would fired your boss and you and everyone in between.

I am a recovering alcoholic , sober 5 years .It sounds to me that your boss has a problem with alcohol if he does this every day . Especially since he is so open AT WORK with it . If you turn him it just might save his life ! So search your heart and do what you believe is right for everyone .

If you refuse I don't think the boss will force you to drink.

I would not drink on the job.Have respect for what you do and do your best.If you are drinking ,you aren't doing the best that you can.Your manager should know better and I would distance myself from this behavior,if he gets caught he could take you down with him.
