Did you know that Helena was based on Mikey & Gerards grandmother's death, with whom they were both very close to? And, they lyric, in which he says, "It's better if I stay" is meant, that he (Gerard) was going to commit suicide because he was so close to her, but realized the pain that his family would encounter if he did that so he didn't do it...meaning, it would be better if he stayed. This album, the Black Parade, I believe touches on his father. I can't say for a total fact, but I saw him at the $2 MTV bill show in Phlly a couple of weeks ago, and when he sang it, it sure appears to me that it is clearly about his father. I beleive they make the music that they do because death has touched them A LOT in their lives. that is why their music is so good, so passionate. that is why poeple can relate. they put the pain that they have to good use...and are saving so many people in the process.
they are a great band.

because we all die and its something we have in common, not to metion their family members memories are being told in their songs. Like helena is about mikey and gerards grandmother that died a week before they made their second album. Its just what they like.

To attract people, mainly teenagers that have death on their minds. To give them something to relate to, just to sell more albums.

It's all concept. They might happen to think about death more often than average people do. It's a good thing.
