I would like to know if Hakalau gets as much rain as Hilo Hawaii?

Since "Hakalau is located on the Hamakua coast 14 miles north of Hilo", I would not expect there should be all that much difference in the rainfall. But, actually, year-to-date shows that Hakalau has had 71.66 inches while Hilo (Airport) has had 104.73 inches (as of September 2006). Check the map below for the information.
