Wheatpaste is a cheap, easy to make adhesive that behaves like wallpaper glue, used for putting up posters on billboards, walls, bus shelters, lightpoles, mailboxes and so on.

Wheatpaste Recipe

Boil water and white all purpose flour stirred together in a pot, the ratio of water to flour is 1 cup to 2 tablespoons.

Simmer, stirring occasionally, until it has the consistency of glue.

Remove from heat, transfer to the container you are going to wheatpaste from, cool.

How to Use Wheatpaste

Put a layer of wheatpaste larger than your poster on the surface you are adhering to. For this you can use a paintbrush or your gloved hands.
Stick the poster to it.
Smooth the poster down using gloved hands or the paintbrush.
Finish with a thin layer of wheatpaste over the poster.
Wheatpaste dries in a few hours.

Seems Goalie has the right recipe and I certainly can't improve on that.
But I can certainly invite you over for homemade pancakes or some German cake...smile
