I believe so, because I think hate and love are really just different sides of the same coin. If you care about a person enough to love them, they have a lot of influence on you. If they were to do something that hurt you or made you angry, your strong feelings for the person could easily turn from love to hate. I believe the opposite of love is indifference. If you love someone, you think about him/her constantly, you like making him/her happy... if you are indifferent, you don't care at all.

Ever heard the term opposites attract? Many times the differences between people can bring about different feelings for them. As a whole you can love/hate someone or something. Vices for instance like alcohol for some, caffeine you love/hate.

Absolutely. MY foruth wife for example. Our marriage ended badly and to say that I hate her would be grossly understating the matter. Yet, at the same time there is still a part of me that is deeply in love with her and there are times when I still wish we were together (then I remeber why we split up and we're back to hate again). The term to describe those sorts of conflicting emotins is Ambivilance.

Hate is a very strong word, as is love. Maybe to truly HATE someone, you have to love them first.

Yeah, it's called a love-hate relationship... not healthy for anyone.

you can hate their behavior, or something about them, but love them. hate the actual person AND love them? i don't think so, but maybe some people can.
