I've heard grape seed extract is great for reducing inflammation in the brain. Are there other things like this? and/or certain foods to incorporate/avoid in diet?

I'm still amazed that people actually say that there is no such thing as ADD/ADHD. I guess these people still think the world is flat too.
But I digress. I know of a product that is full of antioxidants, phytonutrients, flavenoids and 4 natural polysaccharides. What this does is rapidly change the blood from acidic to alkaline by removing free radicals, bacteria, inflammation, acid and fungus. None of these things can grow in an alkaline environment. People have been finding great success with this in both adults and children, and the product comes with medical validation, the only one of it's kind that does.
Grapeseed oil is excellent as well, and it also reduces the bad cholesterol in the system.
I would say incorporate as many fruits and vegetables as you can, particularly leafy greens, and avoid sugars, salts and pre-packaged foods.
If you like I can direct you to a website with testimonials on what others have found to improve this condition.

no, dont medicate, those medicines havent been proven in the long run to treat any type of mental illness, and how would you feel if your child didnt really have the illness and yet you thought you knew best and kept medicating. ADHD is just a hyper active child, how do you deal with that, let them run off their steam, let them join a gym class, or take on swimming, anything to keep them moving. Its alot better than having a child sit and watch TV all day and get obese, With the right kind of parenting and attention your child can excel and live a normal life.

My son is not classified as ADD/ADHD, but he definitely has problems concentrating and paying attention in class. What I have found that helps, but not a complete solution, is a product called Attentive Child that I purchased at GNC. Some other things that his teacher and I discussed was not having him watch television right before bed, because it will overstimulate him and he will have problems sleeping. Another is limiting his use of video games.

I wish you the best because I know how frustrating it can be. I will not put my child on any prescribed medication either.

ADD/ADHD is linked to areas of the brain being under stimulated, not inflamed. Children with ADD respond well to being taken off of processed foods, and taking supplements that many people with ADD or ADHD tend to be lacking. You can find out what is needed by having the child muscle tested. Bach Flower Remedies have been used with great results with ADD/ADHD, and neurofeedback works wonders but it can be difficult to find a practitioner and to get insurance to pay for it. Good luck, there are lots of options out there, I am sure you can find something that works.

I have found the Homeopathic Remedy AVENA SATIVA (Common Oats) Mother Tincture very effective in ADD/ADHD. But according to the principals of Homeopathy us Homeopaths have learned to prescribe according to the patients individual symptoms which differ from person to person. The above mentioned remedy will help anyway and will not cause any harm or give any side effects or cause any complications. You can email me if you have any further details or you want to clarify anything and I would be Happy to be of help.
Take care and God Bless you.

Soul Doctor on Answers has a homeopathic remedy for ADD/ADHD. You can find him at: http://answers.yahoo.com/my/profile;_ylt=Atj_MBAL8Oo8fnDcEEjlo4YezKIX?show=AA11612867.

I would also strongly suggest that you visit a naturopath. She/he will use kinesiology to determine which supplements would balance your child(ren). You're saving time and money by not trying different suggestions. You can check at your local health food store to see if there is one they recommend; or you can check the link below to find one in your state. Please feel free to email me with any questions.

Sorry for interfering with; the only thing I've got to tell you is there isn't such a disease
like ADD/ADHD. It's a Shrinks' invention to put kids under legal drugs, such as Ritalin.
However, you may get all adequate infos from CCHR (Citizen Committee for Human Rights ). Go into on Net.

Ciao..........John-John.
