I had an interview that I felt went very well. A couple of days later they called and said that my application was submitted for a background check...then 2 days ago they called and said my check came back good, and that they were continuing the check. How long will it be before they call with a job offer if they do call?

It completely depends on the company. Some will give you an offer within a day or two, some take weeks. Keep looking while you wait, you don't want to put all your eggs in one basket.

I'm thinking that you should be hearing from them at least by the end of the week. But what I'm wondering is why would they give you some info on the background check if it isn't complete? you might want to call them just to make sure they're not finished with the check. I've just never heard of doing a partial check giving you some info then completing the rest.

it really depends on what checks they are doing, and what background screening company they employ. I know some can take two weeks just because the background screening company is slow even if the report is clean

I suggest giving them one week, then call and ask if a decision had been made. If they say no, politely tell them you want the job.
