I ask many questions intended to gauge peoples feeling on a particular subject. Occasionally I will include inflamatory phrases and in those cases I expect to be attacked but when I ask a poilite question, even if the question is not pc, why not just answer it without the attacks?

It's a good point. Many questions on Yahoo Answers are of a rhetorical nature so they don't beg an objective answer. The asker makes it clear he/she already knows how they feel about the subject (much like your question here).

Lots of folks view every question in this light. Of course it's a mistake on the part of the answerer to do so. People are assumptive by nature I guess.

--After reading some of the responses to your question I must add: It seems some folks simply lack the attention span or the intellect to digest the entire question (e.g. some folks here only read through or digested the 1st sentence in your expanded question).

is this a good example?
why do peoples feelings get hurt when you ask someone who's been raped oh whats the big deal on a little extra sex kind of thing?
you must deal in reality. action choice equals an expected reaction.
if it has potential to harm it probably will and expect real feelings and responses.
its not PC because it can and likely will hurt.
what is the expected reaction to hurt or harm in your mind?
are you not fully aware that you ask people that have feelings ?

I blame Bill Clinton, he is the problem for the last 100 years and will be the problem for the next 100 or so. Yep you are right somebody might take that as conservative. By the way I am a liberal. I am not afraid to say it even with hawkish repuglicans on this sight.

You cannot both "include inflamatory phrases" one minute, and complain about people being inflamed the next. Come to think of it, I don't really want to inflame, so I won't call anyone a hypocrite here.

Because people (in general) just aren't bright enough to realize that. That's a fact.
